Check out this week's episode of The Conversationalist Podcast: Should We Kick Kurbo to the Curb?

Episode #9: Should We Kick Kurbo to the Curb?

On this episode of The Conversationalist we are covering all things Body Image & Diet Culture with Hayley Herms, Carmen Rene, and Dr. Alexis Conason. In the first segment, our founder and CEO, Sophie Beren, meets with body acceptance activist Carmen Rene and former Revenge Body contestant Hayley Herms. Together they cover the toxicity of diet culture, the effects diet culture has had on their personal lives, and how they now use their platforms to advocate for body acceptance. We then meet with expert Dr. Alexis Conason who gives her thoughts on the dangers on Weight Watcher’s newly launched diet app, Kurbo, that is designed for children as young as seven years old.

Carmen Rene is a model, activist, speaker and Lymphedema Warrior on a mission to help others on their journeys towards body acceptance. Carmen realized her true purpose in helping others challenge our notions of beauty by empowering women around the world to feel beautiful in their own skin. Born with primary lymphedema, a rare, long-term condition where excess fluid collects in tissues causing swelling in the legs and feet, Carmen wanted to share her own experiences and insecurities on her path to self-acceptance and self-love. In 2017, she created @EatTheCakeToo on Instagram. Her honest, fearless, and thought-provoking posts challenge the unrealistic standards of beauty and breaks down the stereotypes surrounding fat bodies, which struck a chord with men and women across the globe.
