‘Dance Mom’ Christi Lukasiak is helping Gen Z’ers become full time adults

Christi Lukasiak is best known as Chloe’s mom on Lifetime’s Dance Moms. What you may not know is that she’s also an entrepreneur using her voice to help Gen Z’ers manage their money and take on the world. She was honored as the 2020-2021 celebrity ConversationaLIST honoree for the Economics category to celebrate her exceptional work as an entrepreneur and influencer.

Christi is on a mission to empower Gen Z‘ers worldwide through her platform Adulting101, which encourages young people to take control of their lives by helping them leverage their unique talents, claim their independence, and guide their transition from full-time students to full-time adults.

During her panel, Christi discussed how she was inspired by seeing her daughter and many of her followers and fans attend college and take on adulthood but lacking resources in areas where they might have questions. “I thought, ‘I’m already talking to these 18-25-year-olds. How can I help?’” she said. 

Christi also shared some of the ways her platform has benefited its participants, and in turn, the economy. She encourages her community to look outside the norm to find the best ways to use their talents and skills. “Even if you are employed by a company, there are a lot of different ways you can diversify your revenue streams and make money based on your expertise,” she said. “Then, when something like Covid happens, your fate isn’t in someone else’s hands. You’ve taken the initiative.”

Finally, she dropped some wisdom she frequently shares with her community about staying resilient through the pandemic’s challenges. “Your first job entering the workforce may not look exactly like you planned when you were 18,” she said. “But you might end up having opportunities you’ve never dreamed of because a lot of us are working remotely… you might see it as limiting, but I’m seeing that a world of opportunities may have opened up to you.”
